Who
We Are
The Friends of Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital was founded
in 1989 to address health-related issues affecting the well-being
of children. This diverse group of community volunteers joined
together to bring attention to and pursue solutions for the
health and safety needs of children, particularly those served
by the Department of Pediatrics at the Yale University School
of Medicine and the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.

What
We Do
The overriding philosophy of the Friends is that creative
solutions for the social, emotional and physical health challenges
faced by children can be found when people of different backgrounds,
interests and life experiences come together and share ideas.
Four
main goals guide the Friends' mission:
- Advocate:
Function as advocates for children, focusing attention on
their health and safety needs as well as on the education
of families and children related to health and safety issues.
- Involve:
Expand community involvement in and awareness of child health
issues
- Initiate:
Initiate new programs and projects that respond to social,
physical and emotional health issues in children and provide
support to Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital in its continued
pursuit of these goals.
- Support:
Support the efforts of pediatric faculty at the Yale School
of Medicine and the Yale Child Health Research Center.
Yale has
succeeded in decreasing the vulnerability of children, particularly
as a leader in pediatric research in the nation, but much
more must be done to ensure their future health and well-being.
