HISTORY: In 1996, the Friends of Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital held their first "GO TOPLESS" Invitational. Twelve owners of European convertibles gathered at Mauro Motors, in Hamden, on a Sunday morning in May, to celebrate the joys of owning a convertible. Coffee and donuts were served, followed by an Information Scavanger Hunt drive, which concluded with a delicious luncheon and live auction at the Mayflower Inn, in Washington, CT.

The following year, the starting point was the Woodbridge home of event chair, Harvey Adelberg. Homemade bread and muffins (cooked to perfection by Harvey's wife, Jan) were served, followed by an Information Scavenger Hunt drive, lunch at another top-rated restaurant, and a live auction.

In the ensuing years, the breakfast offerings became more and more elaborate. By the mid 2000's, participants expressed more appreciation and delight for Jan's extensive breakfast spread than they did for the food at the top-rated restaurants.

The "qualifications" for participation were also broadened to include ALL convertibles, as well as sports cars, classics, special interest, collectibles and other "fun" vehicles.

2010 EVENT: This year's version of the original GO TOPLESS Invitational is open to all car enthusiasts…no matter what you are driving. Are you a "car enthusiast"?

If you have any doubts, take the ONE MINUTE TEST, then report back here as soon as you finish the test.

The event is not a competition or a race. It is a celebration of sports, imported, domestic, exotic, classic, collectible and/or just plain fun vehicles, fine food and the enthusiasts who enjoy both. This is a rain or shine event. All activities will take place, as planned, regardless of the weather. If there is any threat of moisture on the 16th, you may leave your garage queen where she belongs, and participate in your daily driver.

COST: The $150 registration fee covers two persons and all the activities of the day. Married couples, unmarried couples, parent-child (12 and over) pairs and even singles @ $75 (we will match you with another single, or Larry King, if he is in town) are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please call Harvey at 203-393-1399 or send him an email at harvey@janetleslie.com .

Hope you can attend!!!
